Lost histories
“All the objects in the painting come from different periods and contexts. Each piece has its own story, its own history. And all of these objects have been lost in the great flow of history. The oil lamp from Yugoslavia, a country that no longer exists. The letter you see in the background comes from a time when Italy was still a kingdom. The small stone from Sudan was once part of a necklace, worn by a population that no longer exists. The table comes from a century that has disappeared forever.
Given all these objects, I found no color more fitting than a deep, intense red, which has had a great impact across many cultures and throughout history.”
